Protocol in Amalgam Removal |
|
| We follow a strict protocol in the removal of Amalgam (Mercury) fillings: | |
| Initial Consultation The most valuable part of the mercury removal protocol is the "information gathering" session. | |
| It allows us to determine the present state of your dental health and compile an accurate record of your medical | |
| history. If you require additional testing to complete your assessment, it can be scheduled at this time . | |
| Treatment Plan Consultation A thorough history allows Dr. Kao to plan a successful treatment plan for your | |
| your individual situation. You will co-operatively work out a plan including a dental support treatment plan with | |
| nutritional and botanical support. | |
| During the Dental Treatment: Mercury Removal It would be quite dangerous to have mercury fillings drilled out | |
| without the necessary precautions. A dentist needs to be properly trained in mercury removal procedures. City | |
| Dental Wellness Centre follows the guidelines established by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and | |
| Toxicology. If these protocols are followed then the amount mercury released during amalgam removal is reduced. | |
| 1) Place a rubber dam around the tooth to isolate it from the body. | |
| 2) Provide an alternate source of air to the patient with a nasal hood | |
| 3) All removal must be done under cold water spray with copious amounts of water | |
| 4) Use high volume evacuation with isolate attachment to evacuate the mercury vapour from the area of the patient. | |
| 5) Section amalgams and remove in as large pieces as possible | |
